Matthew C. Mariner is a Denver-based artist and librarian who sometimes goes by the name “Lycra Bustier” (don’t ask). He was born in Florida and escaped to Denver after grad school because Florida is, without a doubt, the worst place on Earth (yes, we all know South Sudan is pretty bad). His work ranges from paper collages to faux clip art advertisements to comics with no discernible connecting thread. If he subscribed to a style, it would be Neo-Ultra-Dada, but given his postmodernist sensibilities, he would never cop to subscribing to anything. Or would he?
