The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver hosts a variety of programming dedicated to the creative development of teens. MoxieMag is a magazine created by teens for teens, where they take on the roles of creative thinkers, writers and designers, to create a monthly online editorial covering art, music, stories and shenanigans. The MoxieMag program partners with local artists for each semester to expose the group to professionals working within the creative industry. The program is facilitated by Zachary Davidson, MCA Denver’s Youth Programs Manager, and explores contemporary ideas and the creation of original content.
“During my time in MoxieMag, I was able to really explore my interest in film on a much deeper level and combine that interest with journalism. A highlight of my experience would be having an outlet for creativity and improving my writing in a sphere that wasn’t school-related. I feel like now I will have the motivation and confidence to create more things that combine my interests and allow me to learn and explore in a creative way. I also think getting to create the magazine alongside the other interns was a really positive experience, and I feel like I improved in my ability to create collaboratively, while also getting to meet and work with some really cool and interesting people.”
